1) Growltiger was a notorious cat known as the "Terror of the Thames" who terrorized other animals along the river. 2) While relaxing on his barge one night with his love Griddlebone, Growltiger and his crew were ambushed by a band of Siamese cats seeking revenge for Growltiger having mauled one of their ears. 3) In the ensuing battle, Griddlebone escaped but Growltiger was forced to walk the plank by the invading cats. His demise brought great celebration among those who had suffered from his evil acts
