This thesis explores how Chinese ancient cultural memory is reconstructed through popular Xianxia TV dramas. Six dramas from 2015-2019 are analyzed for their representation of cultural elements in lyrics, posters, and narratives. Fan-generated videos of one drama are also studied. The findings show these dramas blend commercial and cultural logics, retelling mythology through romance plots. Fans further reconstruct memory by practicing elements in fanworks.
