This study aimed to identify sources of microbial contamination in a plant tissue culture laboratory. The most common bacterial contaminants were found to be Micrococcus sp., Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus. The most common fungal contaminants were Aspergillus sp., Penicillium sp. and yeasts. Fumigation with formaldehyde was found to effectively reduce microbial contamination in the laboratory.
