Xanthophyllum amoenum is a mid-canopy tree found in forests throughout Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo. It grows up to 33 meters tall with large, simple and shiny leaves. Its white-reddish flowers grow in unbranched clusters and its yellow-orange, fleshy berries contain several edible seeds. The fruit is used both as food and medicine to treat pain.
