What is Transformer Insulation Resistance Testing about?

Tests are conducted on power transformers to measure insulation resistance (IR) values using a 2500V megger. The IR is measured between the high voltage bushings and transformer body, low voltage terminals and body, and between high and low voltage terminals. The oil temperature and megger details are also noted. Acceptable IR values depend on whether the transformer is new or in service, with a maximum of 60MΩ at 60°C for transformers in service.
