What is History of Catubig, Northern Samar about?
Catubig was originally an ancient village called Cagnipa in the Ibabaw region of Samar. In the late 1600s, Jesuit missionaries established the town of Catubig as a cabecera, or administrative center, for the region. The town was later transferred to the Franciscans in 1768. Over the following decades, the town was raided by Moros and destroyed by fires on multiple occasions, forcing the residents to rebuild.
