An adverb can modify a verb, adjective, other adverb, phrase or clause and indicates manner, time, place, cause or degree. Adverbs are categorized based on the questions they answer such as how, when, where, how often, how certain. Adverbs are usually formed by adding -ly to adjectives and some have irregular forms. Conjunctive adverbs join two clauses while comparative adverbs show greater or lesser degrees.
