This study evaluated the ability of dairy-manure derived biochar to sorb the heavy metal lead (Pb) and the organic contaminant atrazine. Two biochar samples were prepared by heating dairy manure at 200°C and 350°C. Sorption of Pb by the biochars followed a dual Langmuir-Langmuir model, with 84-87% attributed to Pb precipitation and 13-16% to surface sorption.
