What is Understanding Active Directory Basics about?

Active Directory is a database that stores user, computer and network object information and manages network resources. It replaces the Primary and Backup Domain Controllers of Windows NT with a peer-to-peer model where all domain controllers have read and write access to the Active Directory database. The Active Directory database file (NTDS.DIT) is stored locally on each domain controller in the C:\Windows\NTDS folder.
