About this document

Overview of Cementitious Materials by Lorna Baclig is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Cementitious materials are fine mineral powders that chemically react with water to form a strong rigid mass that binds aggregate particles together to make concrete. There are two main types: hydraulic cement, such as Portland cement, which sets and hardens by chemically reacting with water; and supplementary cementitious materials, which are used with Portland cement to improve workability and reduce cracking. Common cementitious materials include Portland cement, limes, gypsum, and masonry cements.
