What is Well Water and CKD Risk in Sri Lanka about?

The study aimed to identify risk factors associated with chronic kidney disease of unknown etiology (CKDu) among farmers in Sri Lanka. It found that drinking well water, especially from abandoned wells, and spraying glyphosate herbicides were most strongly associated with CKDu based on a case-control study of 125 cases and 180 controls. Water samples from abandoned wells and reservoirs in endemic areas showed contamination with glyphosate and other metals.
