About this document

Boost and Buck Converters Explained by Mandanas, John Maledrex is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Boost converters increase the voltage from the input to the output by controlling the percentage of time the switch is on and off. Buck converters decrease the voltage from the input to the output by similarly controlling the switch duty cycle. Both converter types obey the principle of power conservation, where the average output current is equal to the average input current multiplied by the switch duty cycle.
