This document describes optical diagnostic techniques developed at NASA Glenn Research Center to measure ice crystal clouds upstream of jet engines. A light extinction tomography system uses 60 laser diodes and 120 detectors to measure cloud extinction across a 36-inch diameter pipe. Computed tomography algorithms produce water content plots. Validation was provided by a laser sheet imaging system at the pipe exit, showing good agreement between techniques for measuring water content and distribution. The t
