The three branches of the US government are the legislative, judicial, and executive branches. The legislative branch makes laws, consists of Congress, and is established in Article I of the Constitution. The judicial branch interprets laws and resolves legal disputes, is headed by the Supreme Court, and is established in Article III. The executive branch enforces laws, is headed by the President, and ensures policies are carried out by departments and independent agencies.
