What is Fetus Death Caused by Intoxication with Alcohol about?

about the reliability of this occasional finding in post-mortem examinations. Objectives: To investigate the frequency of microscopical haemorrhage within hypothalamo-pituitary structures in death cases by hypothermia to evaluate its reliability in post-mortem diagnosis. Material and methods: A histopathological examination of hypothalamus-pituitary structures was performed at the Department of Forensic Medicine in Gothenburg in 11 subjects (8 men, 3 women; mean age 49 years) and in 9 control cases (5 women, 4 men; mean age 50 years). In one case from the study material, hypothalamus was not available. Results: Histological examination showed haemorrhages within the hypothalamus-pituitary structures in 9/11 cases. We found pituitary haemorrhages were localised within the stalk (7/11), while in the hypothalamus haemorrhages were found in proximity of the third ventricle (6/10). Haemorrhages were contemporary seen within the pituitary stalk and within the hypothalamus 4/9 positive cases. No haemorrhages were found in controls. Conclusions: 81% of hypothermia cases showed haemorrhages within the hypothalamus-pituitary structures compared with absence of bleeding in controls. This resu
