Calcitonin/cinacalcet/zoledronic-acid Hypocalcaemia: case report A 53-year-old man developed hypocalcaemia following treatment with cinacalcet, zoledronic-acid and calcitonin for an increased calcium levels [routes not stated]. The man who had a history of hypertension, coronary artery disease and obesity was presented to the hospital due to fever, hypoxia and shortness of breath. His chest x-ray and CT angiogram showed a bilateral atypical pneumonia. His initial laboratory tests revealed calcium of 9.7 mg/dL, creatinine of 0.78, ALP of 39, CO2 of 29, albumin of 3.7 g/L, magnesium of 1.7 and was positive for COVID-19. His calcium was at 9.3 mg/dL, 6 months prior to the admission and was hospitalised in the ICU due to COVID-19 pneumonia. He was initiated on IV antibacterials [antibiotics], steroids and mechanical ventilation. His calcium quickly elevated within 3 days of admission and peaked on day 12 at 16.7 mg/dL. On day 11, his parathyroid hormone (PTH) was elevated from 324 and peaked to 469.
