About this document

Reading Variations in Qur by rakin is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The word "māliki" in Sūrah al-Fātiḥah 1:4 and the word "maliki" in Sūrah al-Nās 114:2 can be read in two different ways according to the Quranic phenomenon of idghām. For "māliki" in 1:4, it can be read with or without the alif, meaning either "master/possessor" or "king." However, "maliki" in 114:2 has only one pronunciation meaning "king." This phenomenon was taught by the Prophet Muhammad to have multiple correct readings for certain Quranic words.
