What is Judge about?

The judge sentences a prisoner to hang for the fourth time he has been brought before the court for a life of crime. As he puts on the black cap to deliver the death sentence, the prisoner is led away. The judge then admits to the beadle that he closed court early not because of the time but because the stench of the prisoners was offensive to him and he wanted fresher air so as not to impair his judgment.
