What is Abstract about?

RATIONALE: Data are sparse on the risk of allergic reactions associated with COVID-19 infection and vaccination among individuals with severe food allergies. We aimed to assess its effect and saftey among children with milk allergies. METHODS: This study recruited children aged 7-18 years old with milk allergies undergoing oral immunotherapy from The Center of innovative medicine at the Montreal Children's Hospital between June 2022 and August 2022. Participants were administered standardized questionnaires inquiring whether they were ever infected with COVID-19 and how it affected them, whether they received both doses of the vaccine, and postvaccination side effects including allergic reactions (e.g. urticaria, respiratory symptoms, anaphylaxis) and common side effects (e.g. flu-like symptoms). RESULTS: 20 patients with milk allergies were administered standardized questionnaires (median age 5 10, IQR 5 12, 60% male, 80% asthma). Amongst all participants, 60% reported having had a COVID-19 infection.
