About this document
History and Impact of HIV/AIDS by Gadiel Lazo is a document available to read on EtoBox.
HIV originated from chimpanzees in West Africa and was first observed killing homosexuals in America in 1981. It attacks the immune system, leaving the body vulnerable to disease. AIDS is the final stage of HIV when the immune system is severely damaged. HIV is transmitted via infected blood, unprotected sex, infected needles, or from mother to child. While the rate of HIV in the Philippines remains low, it is growing rapidly, with most cases found in homosexuals, drug users, and sex workers.
