The Hov Pod is a purpose designed leisure and commercial hovercraft introduced in 2002 to great acclaim. It soon became apparent that the glass fibre manufacturing process was too labour intensive. The new SPX hulls are manufactured from HDPE (high density polyethylene) this material was chosen because it is lightweight, impact resistant, and far stronger than glass fibre.
