This Alert Service Bulletin prescribes an inspection of the portable fire extinguisher installed on MBB-BK117 D-2 and D-2m helicopters due to the risk of high temperatures causing incorrect operation. Operators must inspect the extinguisher within 30 days and each month thereafter. All extinguishers must be replaced with a new UL certified model by December 31, 2022, after which the monthly inspections will no longer be required.
