This study investigates Antarctic fungi from the South Shetland Islands as potential sources of alternative antifungal compounds against drug-resistant Candida species. Fourteen fungal strains were isolated and showed significant anti-Candida activity, with minimum inhibitory concentrations ranging from 7.81 to 62.5 µg/mL. The findings highlight the unique bioactive metabolites produced by psychrophilic fungi in extreme environments, supporting their potential in drug discovery.
