About this document
Mail Delivery and Birdwatching History by sagar is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The document describes a postal system used in India in the 14th century. Ibn Batuta observed an organized system of couriers established by Mohammed Bin Tughlak. The couriers would sit in sentry boxes and use whips with bells to signal the passing of dispatches from one courier to the next, allowing messages to travel quickly across the country. Later, the East India Company and British administrators established more formal postal systems for the public.
