This article discusses the emergence of the first political party in Mizoram called the Mizo Union. Prior to British rule, Mizo society was organized under local chiefs. When the British annexed Mizoram in 1889-1890, they established an authoritarian administration under the Superintendent. There was no political activity allowed. After World War 2, educated Mizo youth began advocating for political representation and challenging oppressive chief rule. In 1926, a group of Mizo men submitted a petition again
