Indonesia is seeking election to the ICAO Council in 2022 to strengthen its leadership role in international civil aviation matters. As a long-standing ICAO member since 1950, Indonesia controls a large portion of global air traffic and has a strong aviation industry. However, it has not been elected to the ICAO Council since 2001. Securing support from other Asia-Pacific countries as well as regional commissions will be important for Indonesia
