About this document

Longitudinal Comparison of AN Subtypes by titania.dixonlu is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This study compares the impulsivity, course, and outcomes of two anorexia nervosa subtypes: restricting (ANR) and binge/purge (ANBP) in 136 women over 8-12 years. Results show no significant differences in substance abuse, suicidality, or recovery rates between the two groups, with a high crossover rate from ANR to ANBP, suggesting that ANR may be a phase rather than a distinct subtype. The findings challenge the validity of the current DSM-IV classification system for anorexia nervosa.
