The light lanthanide piperidinocarbodithioate complexes with the general formula (PipH2)[Ln(PipCS2),] (Pip = piperidino, Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu and Gd) have been prepared using anhydrous lanthanide chloride and piperidinium piperidinocarbodithioate as reactants. They have been characterized by chemical analyses, IR spectra, electronic spectra, conductivity measurement and TG-DTA techniques. In all the complexes the carbodithioate ligands show bidentate behaviour.
