Tensar geogrids, made from polypropylene and high density polyethylene, are highly durable with lifetimes exceeding 100 years under normal conditions. A study by Edif ERA found that HDPE geogrids showed no deterioration after one year in seawater, while PP geogrids exhibited slight, inconsistent degradation. Both types are predicted to last a minimum of 64 years at 30°C and up to 256 years at lower temperatures without significant deterioration.
