Detection rate for STK11 mutations and threat of malignancy in a German cohort of Peutz-Jeghers syndrome patients by W. Back; S. Loff; W. Friedl; U. Bleyl; D. Jenne is a Medicine article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Detection rate for STK11 mutations and threat of malignancy in a German cohort of Peutz-Jeghers syndrome patients about?

colonic epithelial cells. We further demonstrated a significant correlation between MTAP protein expression and progression of tumors as the intensity of MTAP protein staining increased from normal tissue to carcinoma. In addition, the recently postulated association between MTAP activity and interferon sensitivity was confirmed in the colon epithelial ceils showing only little response to interferon gamma in contrast to the carcinoma cell lines. ## Conclusion: In summary, these data show for the first time that MTAP is not expressed in normal human colonic epithelium but strongly upregulated in colon carcinoma. This finding may be of great clinical significance concerning the homeostasis of normal colon epithelium and regarding treatment of colon carcinoma.
