Alan Donovan, an 83-year-old American who had championed African arts and culture in Kenya for over 50 years, passed away on December 5th. As a lifelong advocate for strengthening appreciation of African heritage both within and outside the continent, Donovan established the African Heritage Gallery in 1970 and the African Heritage House, housing a treasure trove of Pan-African art and artifacts.
