Aptamers as Versatile Tools for Expanding the Scope of Sensors by Ronen Fogel; Lauren Shaw; Janice Limson is a book available to read on EtoBox.
What is Aptamers as Versatile Tools for Expanding the Scope of Sensors about?
The discovery of aptamers as biorecognition molecules for use in sensors has ushered in a new era for chemical and biosensor technology. With reported affinity for targets approaching or exceeding that of antibodies, these small oligonucleotides fold into unique three-dimensional shapes permitting biorecognition of a wide array of targets such as metals, small molecules, proteins and whole cells. This chapter summarizes the major trends regarding their application across the core spectrum of sensor transducers, their range of targets, the major transduction methods they’re employed with, and the evolution of methods for their targeted selection.
