What is Rethinking Architecture Beyond Buildings about?

Architecture must go beyond buildings because buildings alone are not enough to provide what people need from architecture. Buildings are defined more by codes and economic considerations than by architectural theory, making most buildings ugly and wasteful. To find meaningful architecture, one must look beyond, within, before, and after buildings to experiments in form, structures, spaces, and visions that can help people feel at home in the changing modern world.
