What is Series and Parallel Resonance Circuits about?
1) A series resonant circuit resonates when the energy stored in the inductor (Lm) equals the energy stored in the capacitor (We) at the resonant frequency (ω0). The impedance (Zin) is purely real and equal to the resistance (R) at resonance. 2) For a parallel resonant circuit, resonance occurs when Wm = We. The impedance (Zin) is a minimum at resonance and can be approximated as R in parallel with jωL and -j/ωC. 3) Near resonance, the complex impedance of a series resonant circuit can be approximated as
