What is Multiple drugs: Development of a high-titre factor-VIII inhibitor: case report about?
Multiple drugs ## Development of a high-titre factor-VIII inhibitor: case report The male infant [exact age not stated] developed a high-titre factor-VIII inhibitor during treatment with octocog-α for severe haemophilia A (SHA) and following vaccination with diphtheria tetanus and pertussis vaccine, hepatitis-A vaccine inactivated and varicella zoster virus vaccine live [not all dosages stated]. The boy, who was born at 40 weeks of gestational age, had suffered a scalp hematoma due to vacuum during vaginal delivery. Subsequently, he was diagnosed with SHA with the factor VIII (FVIII) activity <1%. He had a family history of F8 gene inversions of intron 22. No inhibitor history was reported. He had received the first infusion of FVIII with recombinant FVIII [rFVIII, Advate and Kogenate] and plasma-derived FVIII [pdFVIII, Greencross] 200-250 IU/QD for 23 exposure days (EDs) due to the scalp haematoma at birth with negative inhibitor (<0.6 Bethesda unit) tested every 5 EDs. Afterwards, he had received on-demand treatment before the age of 12 months. However, he developed three bleeding episodes. Hence, he had received octocog-α [rFVIII, Kogenate] 250 IU/QD for 3-4 EDs at each bleeding
