What is Maitum Anthropomorphic Burial Jars about?

Anthropomorphic pottery jars were discovered in 1991 in Ayub Cave in Maitum, Philippines. These jars were used for secondary burials and are characterized by human facial features and designs. Excavations found jars decorated with beads, shells, and metal bracelets dating back to the Metal Age between 70-370 AD and 5 BC-225 AD based on radiocarbon dating. Some plain non-anthropomorphic burial jars were also found.
