What is Karsanbhai Patel: Nirma about?

Karsanbhai Patel was born in 1945 in Gujarat, India to a family of farmers. After graduating with a degree in chemistry in 1966, he worked as a lab technician and assistant. In 1969, he started his own small scale enterprise manufacturing and selling a phosphate-free synthetic detergent powder locally. He named his product Nirma after his daughter and it became very successful due to its low price of INR 3.50 per kg compared to Hindustan Unilever
