This document analyzes changes in land use and land cover in Aba Urban, Nigeria between 1991 and 2005 using medium resolution satellite imagery. Landsat ETM+ (2000) and NigeriaSat-1 (2005) images were classified to detect changes. The base map was digitized and classified land uses were compared over time. Results found that between 1991-2005, river area increased from 15.1% to 22.4% due to increased activity, built-up area increased from 21.7% to 36.5%, and vegetation dramatically decreased from 63.2% to 4
