The Royal Thai Police (RTP) is the national police force of Thailand. It was first established in 1455 but modernized under King Rama IV in the 1850s when an Englishman, Captain Joseph Byrd Ames, helped set up the first uniform police unit. Today, the RTP is a subdivision of the Ministry of Interior under the Prime Minister
