What is Computer Organization : a Top-down Approach about?

This is the first computer organization text aimed specifically at computer science students (as opposed to books which are for CS/EE/and Computer Engineering). It has a "topdown" approach meaning the author starts with the software or user aspects of the organization then explains how to make it work. This is versus "bottom-up, " wherein the student sees logic gates, circuits, etc., all of which are built up to user level. Aimed at computer science students, this book takes a top down approach. Aiming to provide a more logical approach than has previously been used, this text starts with software or user aspects of the organization and works down to progressively smaller components.
