This document summarizes a verification example of a splice connection of I-beam flanges using IDEA StatiCa software. The connection splices two W200x46 steel I-beams with 10mm steel splice plates and 12 grade A325 bolts. IDEA StatiCa was used to check the bolts in shear and accounting for tension from eccentricity, and found the 12 bolts could transfer the required 595kN load. Both the software and manual calculations according to CSA S14-16 standards found the connection to have sufficient strength.
