Decreased levels of STAT3, a transcription factor involved in the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, were found in placentas from pregnancies complicated by idiopathic fetal growth restriction compared to gestation-matched controls. Lower STAT3 levels were associated with abnormal trophoblast differentiation and function.
