The study analyzed outcomes of 124 patients with severe traumatic brain injury who received different types of prehospital airway management. Patients who received basic airway management had the highest rate of good outcomes. Outcomes were poorer for patients who were intubated in the prehospital setting. The study concludes that prehospital intubation did not demonstrate improved outcomes over basic airway management for severe traumatic brain injury.
