This dissertation investigates individual multilingualism in Lower Fungom, a hypermultilingual area in Cameroon with eight languages spoken across thirteen villages. It aims to assess the actual language competences of the local population, examining claims of multilingualism and the factors influencing language use in social contexts. The study employs recorded text testing to empirically evaluate the multilingual capabilities of residents, addressing gaps in previous sociolinguistic research in the region
