The China Banking Corporation (CBC) refused to comply with a court order garnishing the bank deposit of a judgment debtor, citing the Secrecy of Bank Deposits Act. The court ruled that while the Act prohibits examination or inquiry into bank deposits, it does not prevent deposits from being garnished to satisfy a court judgment.
