Sir Barton was an American thoroughbred racehorse who in 1919 became the first winner of the American Triple Crown by winning the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes. He was bred in Kentucky and owned by Canadian businessman J.K.L. Ross. In his career, Sir Barton won 31 of his 51 starts and over $116,000 in earnings. After retiring from racing, Sir Barton stood at stud but had only modest success as a sire before passing away in 1937. He was later inducted into the National Museum of Racing
