About this document
Therapeutic Plasma Exchange Guidelines by Ana is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) removes harmful antibodies and large molecules from plasma using blood cell separation. It is usually done over 3-5 consecutive days with albumin or saline replacement. TPE is combined with immunosuppressive drugs for underlying conditions and removes about 66% of substances after one exchange and 85% after two exchanges. Guidelines cover patient assessment, equipment, anticoagulation, monitoring, and nursing care during and after the procedure.
