WAM Foam is a warm mix asphalt technology that uses a foaming process to lower the viscosity of asphalt binders, allowing mixtures to be produced and laid at lower temperatures than traditional hot mix asphalt. Field trials in Norway found that WAM Foam mixtures had similar rut resistance as traditional mixes. Emission monitoring showed that WAM Foam produced significantly lower levels of total particulate matter and benzene soluble matter compared to traditional hot mix asphalt.
