This research letter presents new experimental measurements of the viscosity of a lunar magma ocean (LMO) liquid, revealing it to be exceptionally low at 0.22–1.45 Pa s under lunar conditions. The findings suggest that plagioclase would float on this low-viscosity magma, leading to a stratified crust composed of older, impure units and very pure younger units.
