What is Letter to the Editor about?
Dupont' presents two examples of 2 x 2 tables (see Table I), which he calls 'symmetric' and 'adjacent', respectively, and determines their P-value with various versions of Fisher's exact test and chi-squared (twotailed) test. In the same Table I, we reproduce the values which he finds in those cases which will be relevant in this discussion; in the table, the phrase 'more improbable tables' refers to the fact that the P-value has been found by calculating (by hypergeometric) the probability that all tables are as improbable as, or more so than, the one found. The phrase 'twice one-tailed exact test' refers to the P-value obtained by multiplying by two the P-value in Fisher's exact test for one tail. 'Yates' chi-squared refers to the P-value from the classic statistic N (In, x2-n2 x, If N )'
